Our Mission

The Black Heritage Trail aims to share the legacy of Black Americans in the South Carolina Low Country.  It is designed to honor, preserve, and showcase the rich history and enduring legacy of African American communities in this remarkable region.

Our Purpose 

We resolve to honor those who came before, to educate those who walk its path today, to empower communities, and to forge a future rooted in understanding and respect., 

Our Hope

Our expectation is that the voices and visions of African American heritage continue to uplift, unite, and illuminate the Lowcountry for centuries to come.
